What is Parchment?
Parchment was originally originated in South America in the 18th century.  This art was primarily
used as religious cards.  The Columbian art of making cards from parchment paper was later
brought over to Holland by Martha Ospina about 14 years ago and has enthusiastically received.
Since the great success in Holland and Belgium, Parchment has now started to conquer other
countries.  This is no wonder considering the beautiful results of this handicraft or, even better,
when you have tried these techniques yourself.

Letter from Martha:
My name is Martha Levesque and I am a Certified Pergamano Instructor.   Pergamano is  the Art
of Parchment Craft. I found this craft in late 1998 and fell in love with it.  I found it difficult to
find supplies or for that matter a teacher.  Finally, I came across someone who found the pen and
the ink and wished me luck.  I knew that somehow I would find someone to teach me and I did.  I
studied with 2 of the best teachers and became fully certified in 2000 while living in Florida.  I
recently moved back to Maine and settling in Litchfield after being away 16 years.

I am ready to teach this beautiful art called Pergamano to anyone who wants to learn. I taught at
the Villages in Lady Lake Florida and several stamp stores.   I find this craft very relaxing and
fulfilling. It may look difficult but it is not.  It's just a matter of knowing how to use the tools and
the patterns.  A pattern can be made from most anything like cards, photos and I have even used a
panda from  napkin.  Come and see for yourself you will be amazed as the recepient will be when
you can let go and give them out. Whether a card,a framed art piece, or a piece for your
scrapbook.  You will love this unique art.

Sincerely,
Martha Leveque
